ArtPrize 2013

As one of our most ambitious projects to date, we have created a new piece of artwork entitled “What Is Man…?” You can check it out here – What Is Man…? – where it has been entered into ArtPrize 2013. Note that the images on display at the link above are concept images as the actual art piece was still a work in progress when they were posted. Like it if you love it! For some behind the scenes images and photos of the completed project in place, check out our Facebook page 🙂

“What Is Man…” is an exercise in perspectives. Up close, the viewer will be able to see over a third of a million letters – all the letters, in fact, that it takes to create every single word from each of the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. When a viewer moves away to see the piece from a distance, these words form an image of deep space inspired by the perspective of Voyager 1 in 1990, from almost 4 billion miles away. The tiny earth, found on the right side of the image, is just a speck caught in an accidental beam of light – insignificant against the vastness of space. The blood-stained cross set against a closer view of the earth in the foreground suggests the Perspective of One with an answer to an ancient question posed over 3000 years ago and recorded in Psalms 8:3&4 – “When I consider Thy Heavens, the Works of Thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which Thou hast ordained; What Is Man, that Thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that Thou visitest him?”
